While most golfers hibernate during the winter months, we can all improve our games without going outside. Doing this drill a few times a day can really help you lock in proper rotation, posture and arm position on your backswing.
First, stand in address position and hug a club so that it’s horizontal and aligned with your shoulders. Now make your backswing motion and pay attention to where the grip of the club is pointing. Once the grip is behind the ball, you have achieved a full rotation.
Also pay attention to spine angle and arm position. In this example, I’ve placed two tees on the ground. If I have proper posture and arm extension, the grip should be pointing toward the blue tee, which is farther away.
When you’ve mastered this drill, you will achieve full rotation and arm clearance on your backswing, resulting in a more athletic and powerful swing.
