Our after-school program is focused on integrating golf, science and technology. In our end-of-year golf presentations on June 24, the interaction between these three disciplines, and our students’ budding mastery of them, was on full display.
Zion Smith was the master of ceremonies, and Michael Alameda, Triniim Jones, Josiah Yoba and Noah Folks were the presenters.
For the short game segment, Michael hit lag putts and Triniim chipped. They explained how TrackMan, using the integrated E6 software, translates shots in the real world into accurate results in the virtual world of the simulator.
Josiah and Noah used the Trackman Performance Studio in their presentations. Josiah, using previously recorded videos of his shots at 25%, 50% and 85% power, talked about swing techniques and the fundamentals of club speed. Noah showed video of two shots, one high and one low, and talked about techniques for controlling ball flight.
With these end-of-year presentations, our young men showed their families and staff from the Eagle Academy for Young Men of Harlem just how much they’ve learned about golf and STEM, and the ways they come together every day in our Learning Center.
