On Friday evening at The Bridge Golf Learning Center, our young men combined STEM and golf to deliver a series of short presentations entitled “The Anatomy of the Golf Swing.”
These presentations, researched and reported by our students and organized by our STEM teachers and PGA teaching professionals, were made in front of families and Foundation staff members to mark the end of our first summer session. (Our young men are now enjoying a well-earned break before school starts and our after-school program resumes.)
Four teams made presentations, each picking a different area of the body (spine, hips, wrist and elbow, and shoulders). The teams did extensive research, learning the anatomical details of their area of focus and the role it plays in the golf swing.
Students then put together interactive PowerPoint presentations that included their research as well as golf and exercise demonstrations, including Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) exercises to improve their body positions.
This project is another example of the ways our Foundation is working to combine STEM with golf education. Presentations like these also allow our young men to teach, a critical and often overlooked component of learning, and help them develop important public speaking skills.
We’ll have more on this great night over the next few days, including an amazing video newscast to wrap up our first year, so stay tuned.
