The young men in our after school program made a trip on Thursday that would make them the envy of any golfer in Manhattan.
They visited The Bridge, the spectacular golf club in Bridgehampton, NY, which is owned by our Foundation’s chairman and co-founder, Robert M. Rubin.
After a two-hour bus trip from Harlem, the change in scenery was dramatic. The Bridge has extensive practice facilities, world class golf with ocean views, and a clubhouse that rivals the natural beauty that surrounds it. On this perfect June day, our young men got to experience all of it.
They rotated through three practice areas — putting, chipping, and full swing — and worked with the teaching professionals from The Bridge and our Foundation. They toured the Roger Ferris-designed clubhouse before lunch, and spent the afternoon on The Bridge’s new par-3 course.
Our Foundation exists to provide unique opportunities for young men of color. The chance to experience a place like The Bridge is something they won’t soon forget.
