At our Fourth Annual Benefit Outing, held Sept. 23 at The Bridge, Bob Rubin noted that many of the young men in our program have spent enough time at the club in the past few years to feel quite comfortable there.
That was a sign of our Foundation’s progress, he noted, evidence that our veteran students are no longer awestruck kids, but rather young men who are confident in their ability to interact with a diverse group of adults and hold their own on the golf course.
That confidence was on full display during the morning scramble, in which our young men were paired with Foundation supporters on the par 3 course. Yohance Whyte and Mike Sweeney, Director of Instruction at The Bridge, took first place; Triniim Jones and Sam Weiss were second; and Xavier Partee and Tom Logan came in third.
In the afternoon scramble, 21 foursomes went out for a shotgun start. The team of Toby Stern, Jon Stern, Jon Gruenberg, and Michael Watt won the day with a crazy-low total of 16-under 56.
It was, as always, one of the highlights of our year, and the day was made that much better because so many of our Foundation families were able to make the trip with their sons. We are grateful to our generous supporters and proud of the great work our staff did to make the day go smoothly.
