Every month, we are interviewing one of the young men in our program. This month we meet Elijah Opoku, a new student in the program who’s about to enter 7th grade. He recently fielded some questions from Program Coordinator Reggie Mays, Jr.
RM: Tell us about your family and other important people in your life.
EO: My mom, my dad, my brother, and my sister. I’m the oldest. My brother and sister are in elementary school. My parents help me through life; they tell me what’s wrong and what’s right so I can be prepared to do stuff on my own.
RM: What is your favorite part of what we do at The Bridge Golf Foundation, and how do you think it will prepare you for the future?
EO: My favorite part is learning golf. I think it prepares you for life because it requires strategy. You have to think about how you’re going to hit the shot, how far it’s going to go, and what kind of impact you need to make with each swing.
RM: What is one fact that nobody in our program knows about you.
EO: I want to be an actor when I grow up. I want to be famous and be on TV so people can see who I really am and what my personality is like.
RM: What was your favorite part of The Foundation’s summer program?
EO: Going on trips and meeting new people, and interacting with the other kids in the program.
RM: What are your personal and academic goals for the upcoming school year?
EO: I want to be focused and make sure that I practice my math and reading concepts.
RM: Do you have a favorite sports team?
EO: The Cavs in the NBA, and also the Giants in the NFL.
