Video: Headcover Drill for a ‘Connected’ Swing

A common flaw in the golf swing is the flying elbow, when the arms get too far away from the body. Instead, your arms should be “connected” to your torso, meaning that they move in synch with your upper body during the swing. This creates a consistent, coordinated move and more solid contact.

Michael Mancz, teaching professional at The Bridge Golf Learning Center in Harlem, demonstrates a simple drill in this video that will help you stay connected. Simply tuck a headcover (or towel, or glove) into your left armpit (or right, for lefties) and practice taking half-swings. If the headcover stays in place, you’re connected!
